Another busy weekend off to a running start here. We learned so much about economic development programs at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs thanks to the Director of that department, Mark Glick. He said their efforts began with an assessment of the economic condition of Hawaiians in this state, finding that in many areas, particularly business ownership, the numbers showed definite room for improvement. OHA’s economic development programs were developed to offer both technical assistance and funding to put that to work. Mark was enthusiastic about OHA’s Malama Loan Program that could be used for education, home improvement or business. Find out more at OHA offices, any First Hawaiian Bank, or online at www.hiptac.org.
The ‘olelo no’eau for this weekend was a romantic one Wayne chose for Mark’s reunion with his wife: ‘Upu mai nei kealoha, a sudden yearning to see a loved one.
