We could feel everyone getting up and moving this beautiful Saturday morning and there was a lot happening on every Island. ‘Imaikalani Winchester dropped by to share some of the history and motivation behind La Ho’i Ho’i Ea, Hawaiian Restoration Day the last Sunday in July. The annual family celebration in Thomas Square recalls the daythe British flag was lowered and the Hawaiian flag raised over Thomas Square, reinstating Hawai’i’s sovereignty.
Mehana Hind, conference coordinator, joined us to sketch the outlines of the Ka ‘Aha Hula ‘O HalauaolaHula Conference 2009 shceduled for the week at Kamehameha Schools’ Kapalama Campus. Over 900 participants are gathering for workshops, huaka’i and performances with some of Hawai’i’s finest kumu. What a week this will be!
Ku ana ka Hula i ka maka ulu ola. Hula transforms the center of Life’s inspiration.
