Na Kai Ewalu – 22 Aug. 2009

What a rocking day of music and talk story! We had Kahuku boy, Joe Pickard, handsome former football champion, what a life story of luck, perseverance, hard work, and ultimately passion to share what he has earned with the restof the Hawaiian community. Check out the archived broadcast for how he got two degrees at Columbia University, and became an international bank executive, and currently, president of his own companies: Community Planning and Engineering, Environet, and SeaHawaii.

We talked about ho’omanawanui, too, it means patience. Vickie said a way to use the word is: E ho’omanawanui kakou. That means, let’s be patient. That could come in handy!

Our ‘Olelo No’eau was chosen for our guest from Kahuku: ‘Nani i ka hala ka ‘Oiwi o Kahuku. The body of Kahuku is beautiful by the hala trees.
