Na Kai Ewalu – 6 June 2009

Wow this was a fun Saturday with summer in full swing. We had Kainoa Daines, Chair of the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission in to help us look ahead to the holiday. The 93rd Annual King Kamehameha Floral Parade is going to be incredible again this year because of the love and commitment behind every bit of it. Funding for Kamehameha Day events has been sketchy at best, still, Maui, Hawai’i island and Kaua’i are hanging tough with their commemorations. Mahalo and much aloha to all the participants in Lahaina, Hawi, Kea’au and on Kaua’i and O’ahu. Kainoa was saying that the commission is in a building phase, as are the sponsoring groups on Maui and in Hilo, as the young guard rises to their kuleana.
Our ‘olelo no’eau for this week was: “E na’i wale no ‘oukou i kou pono ‘a’ole e pau.” “You can seek out all the benefits I have produced and find them without number.” These are the words of Kamehameha I on his deathbed.
Can I get a copy of the show somehow?
