Live from Bishop Museum with Oswald Stender – 9 May 2009
May 13, 2009 by admin
This was our first Saturday adventure away from our cozy sunlit kitchen table. The Bishop Museum’s communications director, Donalyn Delacruz, warmly welcomed us to the Hall of Discovery there along side the Planetarium. We were honored to have one of Hawai’i’s most influential citizens in contemporary Hawai’i history, OHA Trustee at Large, Oswald Stender. He provided steady leadership as a Bishop Estate trustee during the tumultuous 90’s, and has contributed to cultural and social service organizations throughout his career. His professional background in real estate gives him a knowledgeable perspective on the cede lands issue which he shared with us, saying inpart, that both the annexation of the Kingdom and the ceded lands debates today are all about real estate. Mahalo for your mana’o, Oz, and for your warm and generous nature. We also had a great time with actor, Keo Woolford, who told us about his journey of self discovery through hula which led to the one person play, I Land, which he performed Saturday night at Hawai’i Theatre. Keo is breaking new ground with his mix of hula, hip hop, music, video and spoken word!
