The Scholarships of the Ke Ali`I Pauahi Foundation and a discussion on the upcoming Kamehameha Schools Song Contest – 14 Mar. 2009
March 16, 2009 by admin
A whipping wind and lots of rain only made it cozier around the old kitchen table with two friends from Ke Ali’i Pauahi Foundation, Executive Director Kalei Stern and Scholarship Administrator Bran-Dee Torres. Applications are available now for over a hundred scholarships to fund higher education and vocational training and candidates need not be Kamehameha graduates to apply. Bran-Dee told us there’s only one application form for all scholarships, though other materials may be required. Check www.pauahi.org or call 534-3966 for everything you need, and remember, the deadline is April First!
The second hour Kaho’onei and Vickie had a great time pitching in memories and behind the scenes stories about the Kamehameha Song Contest which is coming up March 20th. Our guests, Lilinoe Kaahanui and Aaron Sala, made it a party with plenty ono coco puffs. Both kamehameha graduates, they’ll be the color commentators for the KGMB live broadcast of the Song Contest which honors John Kamealoha Almeida this year. Aaron Sala, who is bringing flavorful Hawaiian piano stylings into a new generation of music, premiered his newest cd, Napo’ona Mahina, with us. Hope you liked the new directions he is taking. It was a great morning of music and conversation.
