In the August 16th edition of Na Kai `Ewalu Noe Tanigawa, Kaho`onei Panoke and Vicky Holt Takamine discuss the establishment and history of the Kamehameha Schools as well as some of the challenges facing the Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate. They will cover the current court case challenging the schools admission policy as well as past cases and the impact these decisions have on the greater Hawaiian community.

Vicky Holt Takamine is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and received her BA & MA in Dance Ethnology from the University of Hawai’i. In 1975, She graduated as kumu hula (master teacher of Hawaiian dance) through the ‘ûniki rituals of hula from Maiki Aiu Lake. [Read more]
